Testimonials - page 2

I first heard about Better Bodies personal trainers from a co-worker. I mentioned it to my wife and before we knew it we had signed up for the first of what turned out to be about personal training eighty sessions. the first session began in late March and has continued through August.

When I joined I weighed in the neighborhood of 270 lbs. I had a percentage of body fat of about 28-29%. I could barely complete ten sit-ups or ten push-ups. Cardio of any type was a struggle, to say the least. Suffice it to say, I was not in very good shape.

With the help of my highly skilled, and often demanding, personal trainer, I have far exceeded all of the personal goals I set for myself. From day one, James Huffman, my personal trainer, set out to assist me in not only reaching my goals, but surpassing each and every one of them. His encouragement and support, as well as the support of the entire staff made it easy to put forth the required effort to obtain the ultimate prize, which in this case was my health. They found a way to make it fun and enjoyable.

The results during the past 5-6 months are astounding! My current weight is 229 lbs. I have a percentage of body fat of 18-19%. Sit-ups and push-ups are no longer the struggle the once were. A typical cardio session lasts anywhere from 30-60 minutes Along with the physical improvements, those around (friends, family, and co-workers) have mentioned that they have seen improvements in my energy level, alertness and self confidence.

The personal trainers at Better Bodies take their jobs very seriously. They are focused and determined to improve your quality of life through hard work and a supportive environment. Therefore, if you are truly committed to making yourself better physically, mentally and spiritually, then Better Bodies is definitely the place for you. Better Bodies will make your wishes and dreams come true.
Thanks for helping me achieve my goals and thanks for your friendship. I think you're awesome! You're the best of the best.

Sincerely,
Matthew

During my time here at Better Bodies I have lost a total of forty pounds of fat and have put on seven pounds of muscle. I have lost inches everywhere including 8  inches on my waist alone. My trainer Brice has helped me the entire way by keeping me motivated, coaching me on what to and what not to do, and by most importantly keeping it fun! I would recommend the trainers at Better Bodies to anyone no matter what your goals are!

To Whom it May Concern,

I write in appreciation of Mr. James Ingbretson whose client I have been at "Better Bodies" for approximately four months. Five years ago, I realized that twenty plus years of family, work, and recently, illness has left me utterly deconditioned and extremely overweight.

While engaged in intercollegiate competition in college and graduate school, I weighted 145 pounds. Four years of medical school I added twenty pounds and two inches to my waistline. By the year 2000, my weight was 200 pounds and waist 40 inches. My image in a mirror disgusted me. I resolved to rehabilitate myself into something resembling a vaguely human form. Four slow, painful years of yoga (ashtanga, the cardiovascular flavor) brought me to a point where I thought I was ready to start working out.

In August 2005, I started working with a trainer at another facility near the U of A. After 8 months, I was a bit stronger with a bit better endurance but my weight remained the same and I did not seem to have added any muscle mass. I decided to change my training emphasis to muscle building and to stop worrying about weight and cardiorespiratory conditioning. The Wilmot location was on my way to and from work and nearer to where I lived so I looked into training there.

Mr. James Ingbretson took me on as a project. He was the first trainer I have had who seemed to "get" what my goal was and to design workouts to get me there. We've met three times a week for about 12 weeks and have concentrated on muscle mass and strength in all the major muscle groups, upper and lower body, over that time. James impressed me with his knowledge of the physiology of fitness and musculoskeletal anatomy. When I reached a "plateau" he has revised my workouts to get me to the "next level". Though James is thoroughly professional we have conversed during sessions on a variety of topics (family life, obscure films, personal tragedies). As a result, I look forward to coming to our sessions rather than dreading then as unbearable grinds. James has ways of encouraging exhorting and gentle pushing that draw out, in a positive way, that last critical effort that enables one to prevail over exhaustion to make large gains in strength.

After these few months with James, I've lost 20 pounds (1.6 per week) and lost 2 inches (40 to 38) in the waist. My three-repetition maximums over a variety of exercises exceed my expectation as well as experience. All this has occurred without injuries in a pleasant and comradely environment. I give most of the credit for this change to Mr. Ingbretson. James is uniquely knowledgeable in his profession and gifted in its application; at least to aging, shattered physical wrecks such as myself.

Sincerely,
Terence  MD, MPH

Starting at a size 18 and steadily working my way down to a small size 4 (and sometimes a size 2) is quite an accomplishment. And I thank my Personal Fitness Trainer, Justin List, for helping me reach this satisfying level of health and fitness. With my determination and cooperation and Justin's experience and knowledge, we made a good team that produced exceptional results for me. Not only did I drop close to forty pounds, but also gained aesthetic muscle definition, shocked my wearied doctor with across-the-board normal blood panels, and regained my youthful energy and playfulness. And my strength continues to soar upward. I have hardly begun to explore my fitness limits.

A few weeks ago I expresses to Justin that I believed I could not have accomplished all this with anyone else. Justin is a remarkably gifted trainer, and I feel so very blessed to have had the privilege to work with him. Coming from a corporate executive background, simply put, I am not easily impressed. An unfortunate fact, but my expectations and instincts often make me arduous to get along with and most fall short of my standards. Pretty smiles and nugatory flattery has never captured my attention in business; however, consistent quality performance, professionalism, and character earn my respect and admiration without question, I also appreciate that Justin is reliable and genuine with his clients. He cares and he pays attention, and this caring attentiveness and his unostentatious style I have noted quite often. Justin's affability and sincerity also make him so very special to work with and to learn from.

In closing, I'll just further inject that the world of fitness is a much better place with Justine in it Should I ever find that I need a fitness tune-up in he months or years to come, Justin will remain the first person on my list to seek. I look forward to observing continued success and growth in his career as a dynamic personal fitness trainer.

Thanks to Better Bodies in my 36 sessions I have lost 25 pounds and I have lowered my blood pressure by 20 points. Before I started I was on 3 different medications and now I am only taking 1 and only half the dosage I was taking before. When I started at Better Bodies I weighted 201 pounds and now I am down to 176 pounds. My energy level has increased 10 fold and my strength level has tripled. Now I can go into Home Depot, or Lowe's and I don't need any assistance when I buy heavy items and I can load my pick-up by myself, I only have 13 more pounds to lose and I will achieve my final weight goal of 165.

Special thanks to your trainer Christian Grove for putting up with me and giving me encouragement during workouts. Especially, on days when I wasn't in the mood to be exercising and that extra push from him made me do several extra repetitions that I would of never done on my own.

Thanks,
Larry T

To Whom It May concern,

This letter is to recommend to you, Jason Jackson, personal trainer. I have been working with Jason for the past five months, three days a week, and plan to continue for the foreseeable future. I am 67 years old and was somewhat hesitant to start an exercise program. Jason was very positive and encouraging as were all of the trainers at Better Bodies on oracle at Orange Grove. I have been very pleased with the program Jason has developed for me. He has emphasized the exercises that help me do my daily life more easily. Progress has been slow but very satisfying. At the time I started working out I was seriously concerned about my overall health. I was short of breath frequently. By now I have lost thirty pounds and gained noticeable strength. I am no longer sort of breath and my blood pressure has gone down. Even better. I am having a lot of fun. Jason is very intelligent and well educated. He can talk about just about anything. We have great conversations while I am exercising. I would definitely recommend Jason to anyone considering an exercise program.

Sincerely,
Mary Ellen

After seeing that picture of me (below), I asked one of my friends who worked at Better Bodies, "I need help do you think you can whip me back into shape?" He told me it was going to be a lot of hard work, but was confident in me as well as his training abilities that he would be able to make a lot of progress with me. I had always felt intimidated at any gym and was hesitant to spend the money on personal training sessions. But after more thought, I realized that that this is exactly what I needed! I had let my weight get completely out of control and my muscles were totally non-existent. So I signed up for the 36 hour sessions and so began my journey.

On my first visit (June 17), I weighed in at 213 pounds. It's taken me 5 months to get through all my sessions, but I am proud to say that I have lost 31 pounds since June!! I currently weigh 182 pounds. I look and feel so much better... better than I have in a very long time!
My trainers, Rob and currently, Marco have done an excellent job! am so thankful to Better Bodies, for helping me get my body back into shape! I always felt very comfortable there, not like any other gym I've been to. Marco is awesome! He was constantly motivating me and pushing me to take it to the next level. He kept me going when I didn t feel like working out. When I didn t think I could do one more rep, his positive words and encouragement gave me enough strength to do 10 more!!! He shared much of his knowledge with me on topics such as diet and eating properly, the importance of cardio, and always showed me the proper form for each exercise, as well as some stretching ideas! The encouragement from Marco kept me coming back 2-3 times per week. I have lost a total of 18" inches from my beginning measurements (including 5" off my chest, 4 " off my waist and 4" off my hips). The changes in my body shape are significant. I am so happy with my progress and I am amazed at how much my energy level has gone up!

I am sad to say that my training at Better Bodies has ended, but I am definitely taking everything I have learned with me. I now have the confidence in myself to actually want to work out on a regular basis and to continue on my journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle. I really do enjoy exercising now!
I have told everyone I know about Better Bodies and the quality of personal trainers they employ there. I have had a wonderful experience with the facility and with Marco and will continue to recommend their services to everyone I meet.

Dear Jeramy,

I'm writing to thank you for one of the most positive experiences of my life. Over the last 20 months I've moved across the country, both my boys were married, I lost 2 parents and started a new job... training at Better Bodies saved my sanity.

It was the Valentine's Day ad on the radio that piqued my interest. I had been looking at a number of gyms in the area - after meeting with Woody I knew I found the right place. Better Bodies offered personalized work-outs... It's easy to tell yourself "I just don't have time right now". It's tougher to make that statement to your trainer (in my case that was James Banner.) James held me accountable.

In 5 months I've lost 38 pounds and reduced my body fat by more than 15%. I've got more energy. I'm stronger - I have muscles I can actually see now, and my overall attitude has improved (which has made my kids and husband VERY happy). I realized I could have achieved even more had if I followed the advise on nutrition James offered; however, at 48 there are some things I simply WON'T give up!

Sincerely,
M Paris

My name is Jim Panke. I am retired from the phone company, and now run my own business. My weight has been going up over the years and my doctor had to prescribe medication to control high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes type II. I knew my lifestyle and lack of exercise was not helping me stay healthy and finally decided to do something about it. I began training at the Better Bodies studio on Oracle Road  with personal trainer Gary Dansky. I explained to Gary I wanted to lose my belly, and get off the pills the doctor told me I needed to take. I told Gary I had not exercised before, and did not know how all the machines worked or what I should be doing. Gary started me exercising slowly and carefully. He taught me proper exercise techniques, took time to make sure I understood where the muscles were that I would be working and explained why we were doing the particular exercise each day. Gary focused the beginning of my workouts on strengthening my core muscles because that was important to me. He also gave me the motivation I needed to eat better and work on my cardiovascular training at home. Initially, I signed up for12 sessions, but after 5 workouts with Gary, I knew I wanted to continue training with him. I bought 24 more sessions and that was one of the best investments I ever made. I noticed I was getting the results I wanted from exercising with Gary I felt stronger and lost 1 to 2 pounds a week. After my 30th workout session with Gary, I returned for a check up with my doctor. The doctor confirmed I had lost 20 pounds, reducing my weight from 250 to 230 pounds. On December 22, 2005, my doctor called me with good news. He told me I could stop taking my diabetes medicine if I continued showing good results from exercising and dieting. My belly is definitely smaller and I feel really good. My wife and friends tell me they can see the difference in the way I look. I am so impressed with the improvements I have made working with Gary, I decided to sign up for 36 more sessions at Better Bodies to continue my progress.
I highly recommend personal training at Better Bodies of Tucson to anyone wanting to improve their health and appearance.

In Jan. I began training with Ediz Salazar- 1/2 lb. in 3 weeks. After 3 months, I had dropped 30 lbs.!!! Everyone at Better Bodies Tucson has been very encouraging and Ediz, in particular, brings such a positive approach to my session, that I am eager to participate each time!
My motivation for working with a personal trainer was my late husband’s unexpected death due to massive coronary disease-a completely silent killer that no one knew he had.
Within the first 6 sessions, that motivation has changed for myself now! For MY health and well-being.

Thanks to Ediz and is positive outlook, I am progressing faster than anyone (especially me) had anticipated- Another wonderful side effect has been that I’m no longer dependent on my asthma medications!

I strongly recommend Better Bodies for their personal trainers, excellent equipment and upbeat atmosphere.

Better Bodies has been a life changer for me. Owner Jeramy Price tells me that I have about 637 different muscles in my body, and Kristi Rozelle my Better Bodies trainer us working on every one of them. I am finding and using muscles that I did not know that I have, and building a base of strength, balance and a sense of well being that makes me feel better than I've ever felt in my 65 years. Kristin Rozelle and the other trainers at Better Bodies have the training, experience and commitment to my well being, that keeps me in a one of constant improvement while free of injury and over training. At my age that is really important.

My name is Jade Bossert and I am a 46-year-old female real estate broker. I credit my excellent health to training with Jason Jackson at Better Bodies. Fourteen months prior to training with Jason, I had dislocated my knee and still was having difficulty walking down stairs. My cholesterol was 230. In addition every winter, I experienced neck and shoulder pain from injuries sustained in a car accident in 1979. Since training with Jason, I cannot only walk down stairs easily, I can hike down mountains! My cholesterol is 170 and for the first winter since 1979, I have not experienced the neck and back pain that has haunted me for the last 26 years. Bravo to Jason and Better Bodies.

To whom it may concern,

As the saying goes, a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step and the first step is usually the hardest. It is so much easier to say, "I'll just start exercising tomorrow, or I'm too tired, too busy, or I am comfortable where I am right now." This is were my daughter comes in and says mom I think we should consult with Better Bodies and motivate ourselves with diet and exercise.

Being a concerned mother, I thought to myself if this will help my daughter way not go ahead and try for her sake. So we set up a consultation with Better Bodies and were fortunate enough to speak with personal trainer Woody Kiel.

I started this program in the beginning of July with Woody and his enthusiasm, perseverance, and can do attitude helped me with the most important first step, to promise myself that I was going to change my lifestyle and make fitness a regular part of my schedule. It only takes a little motivation, yet it was motivation I never had until I heard about Better Bodies.

Yes, I must admit I was far from being in shape and doing sit ups was a chore! I would be lucky to do three sit-ups. With Woody's guidance and perseverance I have learned that anything can be achieved as long as you put your mind to it as the saying goes "No Pain, No Gain". Within these past few months I have noticed a more toned body, stronger back, legs, arms, and abs not to mention losing about 34 pounds and dropping two dress sizes!
I am still working hard to achieve my goal and with Woody's help I don't have much further to go. However I have learned that hard work and commitment pays off. This experience has changed my self-image and has boosted my self-confidence. It is never too late to make a change in your life and thanks to Woody I have made a positive change to mine.

Sincerely,
Melinda J.

FROM AN INTERVIEW WITH MARTY BISHOP-Tucson's highest-rated radio personality:

So why did you go with a personal fitness trainer?
You mean, as opposed to all the other ways to get in shape? Well, for starters, I just don’t do well in classes, like aerobics or yoga. Seems like there are always a couple of superstars in the front row who just make me feel like a total klutz. And it's too easy for me to start skipping classes. Same problem with just going to a gym and doing it on my own; after a week or two I find excuses to stop. But with a personal fitness trainer, I have a fixed appointment with someone who's actually waiting for me. I can do that. And it's better to work with a professional. You can make more progress, and avoid hurting yourself, when you've got a coach who really knows what he's doing.

You started your personal fitness training program just before the holidays. Why now?
Well, really, why not now- I know that's sort of a glib answer, but the thing about exercise is that there is always a reason not to do it. So just pick a time - like right now - and start. I wasn't worried about missing out on Thanksgiving or Christmas parties or anything, because I'm not starving myself. Believe me, I'm still eating well! But, somewhat to my surprise, I've been losing weight anyway. The cool thing about weight training is that your new, stronger muscles continue to burn more calories, even when you're not exercising. I've dropped seventeen pounds in three weeks.

Weight training. Is that a guy thing?
Oh, no! In fact, most of the clients I've seen at the Better Bodies gym have been women. And not exactly Olympic athletes, either. Most are just ordinary women who want to feel better and look better. I think they're all aware of the special benefit women get with weight training – that is, it can help prevent osteoporosis.

What's your goal?
I didn't start this with a special goal in mind. I just wanted to limber up my back, which has been stiff and sore since surgery last year. So I guess my real goal is to simply feel better. And it's working. I can bend and lift with much less pain, and I'm finding that I have huge boatloads of energy that just weren't there a month ago.
I must say that the weight loss is a pretty nice side effect, though. Oh, and my blood pressure is down. My doctor loved that.

Why are you recommending Better Bodies on the air?
That's easy: Because it really, truly is one of the best things I've ever been involved with. And I really, truly believe that there are a lot of listeners who could benefit from this. It's a little more expensive to hire a coach who works one-on-one with you this way, but it worked for me when nothing else did.

WEIGHT LOSS IN ONE MONTH: 25 pounds
WEIGHT LOSS IN TWO MONTHS: 38 pounds

My name is Janelle Menick and I would like to compliment my trainer, Marco Jimenez, for being attentive while I am lifting. When I started at Better Bodies, I was 176lbs and 34.4%BF. With Marco's guidance, I am now 151lbs and
25.7%BF.

I appreciate that he lets me know which muscle group(s) I should be feeling during all exercises because it allows me to focus on the goals at hand.

I really enjoy him as a trainer and I am confident I will lose more with his help.

Thank you!
Janelle M

I went to Better Bodies because I've reached that age where illnesses tend to start becoming more prevalent. I decided that I really shouldn't wait until I was dependant on medicines to treatments of some kind before I did something about my weight. Everyone knows that too much extra weight is not good for your health in the first place, and obesity in itself causes a much higher risk when dealing with illnesses and procedures of the simplest kinds. Being a nurse for 20+ years, I've seen some things that I don't want to happen to me. I have been doing the drift upward with weight for the last several years and have finally lost the ability and confidence to do the activity that I enjoy most... snow skiing. It's an inherently dangerous sport anyway, but when you're out of shape, you're much more prone for injury. So off to Better Bodies I went and met up with trainer Rob Cantalicio, who has helped channel, my energies back on the right track. With his encouragement to change my undesirable behaviors like bad eating and lack of exercise, I've lost 25 lbs and 15 inches and I'm gaining my confidence, strength, and endurance back for the slopes, not to mention the increasing ease of my daily duties on the job. I still have more work to do to attain my goals, but Rob has set me in the right direction. Reinforcing the good behaviors and seeing results fast have helped to keep me motivated. Now I feel I can take what I've learned from Better Bodies and continue on my own with some follow up visits to Rob, who knows me and can consistently offer continuing advise and ideas on how to keep my workouts working for me.
